Thanks to any and everyone who took the time to add the missing album cover images. They are almost filled up, and I have contacted Brian to let him know. I will leave the link and instructions here in case someone who reads this would like to add the remaining images.
..and click here for easy to follow instructions for uploading images to the discography via Musicbrainz. It would be great to see this discography up and running again. And thanks again to those who helped.

In the meantime…
I made a Chronological Discography that you can seehere.
Scan or find an image of the album cover you wish to add. Currently only JPEG, PNG and GIF files are allowed. The larger the image the better. If you find a satisfactory image from the web, please get the web address of where it came from so as to enter it later. Drag or store that image onto your computer desktop or folder of your choice.
NOW…
step 1. Go to http://musicbrainz.org. In the yellow bar in the upper right of the page, create an account or log in.
step 2. Once you have created an account and verified your email address (which can be done very quickly when you click on the link they send to your email) and are logged in, type “The Legendary Pink Dots” in the search bar, located in the purple field in the upper right, with the tab next to it set to “artist”, and then click “search”.
step 3. Click on the top most result that says the band’s name and has a score of 100.
step 4. A page with their many album releases shows up as a list. Click on the album title that you want to add an image for. Another page comes up with the name of that album by itself. Click on that title too.
step 5. You should be looking at a page that has the title of the album at the top of that page. Underneath which are various tabs, and underneath that, the track list. To add cover art, click on the “cover art” tab which is the 2nd from the right.
step 6. On the page that comes up, click on the grey “add cover art” button.
step 7. Click the “choose file” button to select the image from your computer. Under “type”, select “front”, unless you wish to add images from other parts of the album such as the back or liner notes, which you can also do. If you got the image from the web, they recommend including the link in the edit notes box. It’s not required though. When ready, click the “enter edit” grey box, then wait. It takes several seconds for the image to load. When it does, the cover art will show up as a large thumbnail in a light orange box. It is done. You can see the image as 250px, 500px or original, and you can edit or remove the image.
We have a discography that was formed in 2008 by the contributions of many fans who uploaded album cover images and added track titles through Freebase. Freebase is an open database of the world’s information, and the discography was generated from it using a program called “Albumist” created by technology blogger “Hostile Fork”. Please go here for a more comprehensive explanation by Lisette.
At some point, Freebase disabled the uploading of images across the entire site. I suppose, having been acquired by Google, it has to be more careful about image copyright. When this happened, the discography lost most of the images, although the text data still remains. In addition, I suppose some outdated coding also made the discography stop showing up on LPD.org.
To get around this, internet archive and music database “MusicBrainz”, which has links to Freebase, are seeking to provide this album cover service, but as of yet, it does not have many LPD cover images. They need to be uploaded (again). In addition, some of the more recent releases need corrections to the album titles.
Web developer Brian, who created the original discography for this site, has graciously agreed to do the technical work to make it visible here again, but only on the condition that the community demonstrates interest by uploading at least 15 album covers through MusicBrainz. When you do so, it will show up on the albumist page. He needs to see interest from the community in having this discography up and running again before he is willing to invest his time. For those willing, he recommends uploading larger, higher res images whenever possible.
Click here for easy to follow instructions for uploading images. It would be great to see this discography up and running again. Hopefully, there is interest here.

www.brainwashed.com/lpdalso has a comprehensive discography that is currently in the process of being brought up-to-date.
The Legendary Pink Dots’ Bandcamp page is their streaming music portal! This is where they often release new material as well as most of their back catalogue (including previously obscure material), live show recordings, session recordings, releases by The Tear Garden and solo works by Edward Ka-Spel and The Silverman.
Not sure where to start?
This is a new section in which we will post a short list of about 10 or so songs recommended by seasoned fans. This list will change monthly to reflect the diversity of Legendary Pink Dots output and listeners’ tastes.
Members of the Legendary Pink Dots have also worked on numerous solo albums and projects involving other musicians. Here we would like to acquaint you with some of their other work. Here is a list of songs and pieces by current and former Dots members.

Lisette, who put a great deal of work into creating and maintaining this site over the years, because of her increasingly busy schedule, has needed to pass the tasks of upkeep onto someone else. She asked me, and I was very glad to do it. So, over the course of some months, I have been gradually learning how to make the various updates and postings here.
I have some ideas about making some changes to this site. I see a slightly different way of organizing and presenting the vast body of Dots related material. Areas of information need to be filled out more, such as the band’s history and the list of former band members. We need to revamp the discography which stopped being visable when Albumist changed its rules about having photos of album covers. More on that soon. I can’t do all this research on my own.
I would like for this site to continue to have community involvement. My wish is to have help keeping this site up-to-date, and that the information on this site continue to be interesting, useful and easy to navigate for the seasoned fans as well as the new fans and the curious. As I go along making adjustments to this site, I will be crowd sourcing for contributions. I would appreciate your input, your feedback and suggestions. You can contact me at lpd(dot)website(at)yahoo(dot)com. Thank you much.
