Notes

From Fractal Records, Volume 19: Fan alert !! A new LPD live album, in their debut and in their heyday (a rare and high quality set, vintage 1986) and the very first Dots concert in Belgium! With their 40th anniversary, The Legendary Pink Döts now have a solid and an impressive discography, and it seems that “everything” had already been done and accomplished… so is there a missing piece to the puzzle (for the “live” albums and more precisely for the 80s) ? One would be tempted to say no, but… here is the live in Kontich at the Lintfabriek, provided with particularly interesting characteristics, first of all by its excellent sound quality and filled to the brim with 79 minutes (with the “intermezzos” typical of the Dots!!) is perhaps the “divine providence”, the last “alternative” and the ideal companion for the two other famous live albums previously released (and absolutely essential for the 80s!!!) namely “The Lovers” live side (in Amsterdam, De Melkweg on September 9, 1984, beautiful but too short, just 20 minutes…) and the “Traumstadt 3” cassette, considered by Edward Ka-Spel himself as their best live document (except that it is not a real full live set, but more exactly a “live compilation”). As for the other lives of that time, they generally suffer in terms of sound quality and in particular all those of the year 1986… If 1983/84 still remain a period of development with their first steps on concert, it is from 1986 that the Dots will definitely acquire their musical maturity on stage and raise their status, with the beginning of the first major tours across Europe, with a great and a complete formation (bass, guitar, violin, keyboards and vocals) and above all thanks to an excellent repertoire!! Most of the great Dots titles extracted among their best studio albums (“Asylum”, “Island of Jewels”, “The Lovers”, the 12” “Curious guy”…) are on this live in Kontich, perfectly illustrating the energy, cohesion and perfectionism of the group which is here in a way, at its peak!! As proof, and just to begin with… all fanatics will not fail to be dazzled by this remarkable and poignant live version of “The Heretic”, where the ‘prophet’ was on top form that evening…and for those who will reach up to the stage of the “Neon Gladiators”, will may have already passed in another world… In short, an almost perfect live of the first period. Essential of course for any Dots fan!!!

Fan alerte !!

Bandcamp 2022 release: Strangely, although just 3 copies were listed for sale of this one, somehow it was never declared as sold out due to a glitch in the system. Consequently we’re making a small edition with the original artwork available so nobody is disappointed. There will be 33 copies.

Released by the excellent Fractal Records label (Paris) in 2020, this is an audio document of the Legendary Pink Dots live in 1986 at the Lintfabrik in Kontich (near Antwerp). Quality is surprisingly high for a concert of this vintage. A beautifully packaged limited CDR edition of this show was also briefly available in 2020.

2024 double vinyl release by Fractal Records:
The LEGENDARY edition is a limited edition of 83 copies on 160gr vinyl.  Contains 4 full color inserts, including “vintage” (*) live photos, signed by Edward Ka-Spel and The Silverman. This is a hand numbered edition, stamped with the 2 official Fractal logos. Available only via Fractal mail-order.
(*): back when Edward Ka-Spel still had his special stage makeup !!

The STANDARD edition is a limited edition of 217 copies.
It is a vinyl reissue of the CDr version released by Fractal Records in 2020
with AUDIO REMASTERED and ARTWORK REWORKED.

Blurb: The Legendary Pink Dots has released many live in its history but most often with albums that brought together recording from various locations. Today and now available, is the FIRST double live record of a FULL CONCERT from the 80s era. All great bands all have their legendary “double live” performances in their history. This has now been achieved for the Dots with this recording in Kontich, and Fractal is very happy to be able to offer it to you

LIVE IN KONTICH is also the first ever concert of the LPD in Belgium and the present remastered edition, can now be considered one of the most IMPORTANT recordings from their first period. And if all the fans or newbies want to listen to an excellent live performance, this NEW “Live In Kontich” maybe the “definitive” holy grail for the first and a fantastic introduction “unforgettable” for the second !

In summary, the LAST MISSING PIECE and the perfect companion to the recent book “Close your eyes you can be a space captain” and all the official early albums from the “Golden Age”.  This double LPs set includes also a BONUS TRACK (short and cut) but still here are 3 minutes of bonus live recordings from this legendary concert !
