Has it really been four decades of The Legendary Pink Dots? In reality, these anniversaries tend to pop up as surprise realisations rather than the landmark occasions many would deem them to be.
Even so, we need no excuse to be excessive, so this “40 Year Scratch” was somehow inevitable.
A studio version of “Katrina” was a work in the pipeline for quite some time, while the rest of the material is from sessions on the beautiful island of Hydra, where the taxi is a donkey and the monastery is a mile high. No airport, no cars, an occasional ferry, and two Pink Dots attempting to provide a soundtrack for all that beauty.

For those who just want “The 40 Year Scratch” CDR rather than the double disc. 50 different covers have been created (by EK) for 99 discs. Half will be sold on tour as part of the “30 Year Itch/ 40 Year Scratch ” double disc, the rest are available right here.

“The 30 Year Itch” cd is from a spindle of the ORIGINAL cd in 2010 which was recently discovered. It now has a customised, personalised cover – 50 images for 100 cds – with half being sold on the forthcoming European Tour and half available here. “The 40 Year Scratch” is a homemade cdr – again with 50 images covering 99 cds. EK created the artworks.
