Notes

From Bandcamp
Essentially an album for the historians and completists. These recordings from a park in Rotterdam (Parkzicht) have been floating around the World Wide Web for some time, but never as a complete show. This offering fills in the gaps and completes the puzzle. Tracks 1-3 are taken from the VPRO Radio recording of the show, while the rest was never broadcasted in full. “They Don’t Horses..” did appear on a compilation cassette many years ago (Recloose Live Series Number 1), but this is almost impossible to find. Sound quality has been worked on extensively – a big thank you to Raymond Steeg who did a great job on cutting out unwanted noises.

Notes

An episode for the long running ‘Chemical Playschool’ saga normally begins in a small room.
The recording light will be glowing bright red as one, two or three Pink Dots improvise for hours, aiming for those few minutes or seconds that demand a spot in history.
Sometimes it will be just a few seconds that need to be trimmed, such is the power of the star hovering in the sky above.
Editing is both excruciating and addictive, and many a tear has been shed for the parts that are filed away ‘for future reference’.
‘Chemical Snapshots’ represents a trawl through that archive for moments missed, moments re-evaluated and moments revitalised and re- interpreted.
It is completely instrumental and was an utter joy to create. Indulgence?? Of course !!…EK

September CD-R release:
Following a number of requests, this voyage is manifesting itself in physical form. A lovingly handmade CD-R in a numbered edition of 99 copies.

Indeed, You ARE hallucinating but you have absolutely nothing to fear. Just ‘go with the flow.’

This small but wildly colourful monument will emerge in 3 different formats in the months to come. Vinyl and cassette will be courtesy of Witch Cat Records in Denver (witchcatrecords.bandcamp.com). The double cd will materialise via The Dots’ own Terminal Kaleidoscope label.

Cassette- small edition through Witch Cat Records
LP- Gate folded with loud colours and dangerously hallucinating… slated for release in September 2021 through Witch Cat Records.  UPDATE: Due to the high demand for vinyl record pressings, it wasn’t until August 15, 2022 that this double album was finally pressed.

Notes

Normally we try to avoid audience recordings as, all too often, those in front of the stage can come across as being louder than the band ON the stage. Back in 1993, at the rather beautiful old Trocadero Theatre, the audience did their best to triumph in the loudness battle so this release is far from being sonically perfect. However, there’s a quality to the playing and a certain clarity that earns it a place on this page. It’s a transitional set of songs too, featuring a few rarities. Just turn it up and step right inside, but PLEASE …do be quiet!

Notes

In an attempt to see this punishing year out with a smile, here are 2 ‘demo’ songs from the forthcoming Dots’ album, “The Museum Of Human Happiness”, plus a track from Edward Ka-Spel’s imminent album, “Prints Of Darkness”. All three songs were penned as the World locked down around the room where they were written. The lyrics reflect the twisted scenario, but despite it all, there’s always hope. a big THANK YOU to Simon Paul who made the cover for this Teaser EP.
