Review: Patrick Q Wright – Asylum Relapse

Patrick Q Wright’s Asylum Relapse was reviewed in Freq.org.uk

A re-visit to one of my favourite Legendary Pink Dots albums, Asylum Relaspe re-shapes the patients’ mood, and propels its themes with new perspectives. Some tracks are obvious nods to Asylum’s original content, but others are more slippery with context, wiggling out of the woodwork, adding to the fun as Patrick Q Wright’s musical nous excites the eleven tracks therein, his fevered violin playing and voice spinning a dynamic axis to the words that fly out in vivid flashes. Patrick Wright- Halloween night with Blind Date at Onda Road

Per la notte di Halloween Patrick Wright & Blind Date all ‘ Onda Road

(English translation- scroll down)
Asylum Relapse update from Patrick

Just a quick update for all of the people that really helped me with their pre-orders of Asylum Relapse. All the graphics and booklet are completed and look great, but I am still editing/creating the DVD. There’s quite alot of new material I’m putting into it so it’s taking a bit of time, however I have given myself the deadline for the end of Febuary to complete the DVD so I should be able to get it manufactured and sent out soon after that.

Sorry that it’s been such a long haul!! Doing everthing myself has taken a long time, it’s been very rewarding but I do apologise for anyone who was expecting a quicker production process (as, to be honest, I was expecting myself!)

Happy Christmas to all of you and thanks for your invaluable support.
Patrick

Patrick Q Wright in Bern

Having returned from Bern into a heavy teaching schedule I’ve finally managed to find a moment to post and upload a video of the concert supporting my fellow Pink Dots. An amazing experience for me – it’s been a long long time since I felt so nervous for a gig! In fact the opening piece was pretty shaky but in this second piece, after a reassuring exchange with Jessica Lombardi, I began to find my feet and start to feel a bit more comfortable on stage. The audience were really supportive and in the end we had a great gig. I CAN’T WAIT TO GET ON THE ROAD AND START DOING FULL GIGS!!!

Patrick Wright opening for LPD in Bern, December 15

On my way to Munich for rehearsals with Jessica then a 5 hour drive to Bern the next day to play a support set for The Dots. It’s been a long journey in every sense of the phrase but Saturday night will be the first time ever that I’ve played a gig just of material I’ve written! Better late than never as they say but I’m looking forward to finally get to blast out this material live. Really looking forward to meeting some of the wonderful characters frequenting the Dots world too!!!!

Patrick Q Wright’s Asylum Relapse- CD+DVD preorder

Last year, a five-track teaser for this developing album was released on Patrick Q. Wright’s Bandcamp page.  Now, with eleven tracks, this album has been completed.

The Asylum Relapse complete digital album has finally been released and is available for instant download from my Bandcamp site. People can also pre-order the CD/DVD which is coming out ASAP.  Pre-ordering gives you an instant download of the complete album as well as reserving a copy of the CD+DVD in a gatefold sleeve with a 16-20 page booklet. The DVD features my videos from the “Spin a Rainbow” tour, together with a few surprises and some freshly written music. The first 50 orders will also receive a hand drawn and signed music manuscript of one of the album’s themes.

P.S. Patrick is in the process of editing the tour DVD (from I Can Spin A Rainbow), and is asking fans if they have films/photos they’d like to share (fully credited of course) from these gigs. Not just of the show but events around the show – getting ready, meeting friends etc. He’s particularly interested in anything from the San Francisco show.  If you have photos or videos, please contact Patrick at patrickq77@yahoo.com.  Thanks.
