It’s August 2020 and The Legendary Pink Dots have turned 40. It won’t take you four decades to listen through today’s Anniversary offerings, but I’d strongly suggest that you fill your freezer beforehand (if you have one).

For your delectation, here is the second “Decades” collection from The Dots. On this occasion the focus is on the years 2000 – 2010. Eventually, we’ll get around to the 80s and the 90s. What a long strange trip it has been. Until now…..

As promised! “On The Rebound” is a short orchestrated story written and recorded during the Summer of 2019. A vinyl edition of 40 was made boasting unique covers and this is now spoken for. Even so, 2 copies of the vinyl “Rebound” may become available eventually as we’re holding a couple back in case an angry mailman puts an axe to any of the orders already packaged and ready to send. “On The Rebound” finally landed in Lent. Each slab of vinyl was individually pressed and possess a truly wonderful sound quality. Each cover is individual, designed by me in London and lovingly assembled by Phil in The Netherlands. It’s an edition of just 40 copies and some are, admittedly, already spoken for. It also comes with a bit of a high price tag as they are so expensive to create, but a high quality download edition will be made available shortly as a free/ name your price item via Bandcamp.A big thank you to Raymond at Des Astres D’Or for his outstanding work, and to Phil for being so supportive. Following a trawl through Pink Dots’ deliveries over the last 10 years, it feels like the perfect moment to serve up an overview of a decade’s worth of solo outpourings.

If ever a Time Machine is invented, there should be a built-in warning system, instructing the pilot to avoid the year 2020. It’s hard to think of a year as tragic as this one, for the sad personal news about Marylou last week and for a World situation that’s as bleak as anything I’ve encountered in all my years.

As far as The Pink Dots are concerned, our 40th Anniversary Tour is inevitably paused, but we’re postponing the shows planned, rather than simply cancelling.

On the brighter side, much recording is happening. The delayed vinyl audiobook from me “On The Rebound” will be available from our end as of next week and we’ll have 18 copies for sale. Friends in America should bear in mind that we STILL cannot send packages there yet as there is a ban in place from Germany (where Phil sends from). Even so, this will surely be lifted soon.
