It was 39 years and one month ago today…..
Indeed that 40th Birthday of The Legendary Pink Dots is tangible now and while
we’ve never really been big on anniversaries at Chez Dots, to have simply ignored this one would have been somehow indecent. That’s why we’re starting things early with a 40th Anniversary Tour taking in North America throughout October and (hopefully) Europe in February. If anything goes wrong, put it down to a midlife crisis which may not be so bad after all as it implies that, one day, there will be an 80th Anniversary Tour.
Many new releases will pepper the 12 months to come.
The Pink Dots’ new album “Angel In The Detail” was released on August 23 and the vinyl version is already sold out at source (we have around 20 in stock happily) while reissues and solo projects are also plentiful. It will be a rollercoaster. We shall not grow old…….

This once exclusive Bandcamp release has been sonically enhanced, extended with extra tracks and released on cd by Cleopatra Records from Los Angeles.
A glimpse into how the Shadow Weaver and Malachai albums came into existence with this collection of raw , searching sessions where Patrick Q. was a guest on violin together with a mystery percussionist who took everyone’s breath away.
We kept this release raw in order to give the listener the feeling that he or she is right in the room with the musicians.Quiet pleasures are here ,my friends.

1988. Half of the 6 piece Pink Dots had quit after a long tour. EK and The Silverman were living in a caravan.It was never going to be a happy album…yet it remains a personal favourite for the 2 survivors of LPDs class of ’88.
2018. It’s been remastered as a gloriously expanded reissue on double vinyl and a cd edition that sounds as it always should have done thanks to Metropolis Records.This double vinyl has a bonus 4th side (Live on Radio Bremen 1987) and and an extra song (“The Whore Of Babylon”) which emerged from “The Golden Age “ sessions.

4.THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS – Shadow Weaver Part 2 (Malachai)
”Malachai” is the second half of the “Shadow Weaver” project, recorded simultaneously over the course of a year with the aforementioned album. Special guest for this one was Steven Stapleton who also designed the wonderful cover. A perennial Dots’ favourite though not for the faint-hearted.

5.THE LEGENDARY PINK DOTS – Live At The Fillmore
And did those feet???
In the case of the Fillmore in San Francisco, the answer has to be “Probably”.
A legendary venue where so many greats had performed throughout the years, and the Dots felt a little overawed when they were booked to have their own show there back in 1998.
The hospitality was second to none and the equipment was of the highest quality for a Pink Dotted night which also encompassed a solo show from EK.
In reality, the band did play better shows on that tour of ’98 but it was a little devastating when the realisation came that they hadn’t seemed to have captured the performance on tape.
That’s why a shockwave went through this room a few days ago when our old friend and guitar player from the tour Edwin sent the band a recording made from the desk on his mini-disc player. Some first aid was applied here and there, but here it is….The Legendary Pink Dots Live At The Fillmore.
