Notes

A strange beautiful release for Hallowe’en. Lathe-cut, square (!!) and delightfully home-made in an edition of just 25, 4 in hand-crafted wooden boxes. Here are the songs that appear on the two sides. They will be available again physically in 2020 when a generously expanded and remastered 2 x cd edition of “The Singles” will appear- that is when these songs will be transferred to the Legendary Pink Dots’ Bandcamp site.

Notes

A year in the making in complete secrecy, the intention was to spring “The Moon Cracked Over Albion” without any warning or preview upon an unsuspecting World. In fact, personal anticipation scuppered that plan and here is the finished article a little ahead of time. Conceived and recorded in a nation (a World?) so tragically divided, it could fall apart, it’s hoped that just a few seeds of hope and optimism can be sown over the course of the time you’ll spend in this peculiar World.

The cd is in production right now. An expanded vinyl edition is planned for early 2020.

Notes

This is the first volume of a series dedicated to experiments from the Ka-Spellian Laboratory which are to be delivered as soon as they are finished.
The intention is to remain under the radar but also to allow a peak through the curtain on works in progress, as something happens in this mysterious space every day..

from Des Astres D’or:
Numbered edition of 25
Edward Ka-spel… a Shiny Black Cluster of Spinning Stars, orbiting the Planet called LPD…

from the Bandcamp release:
The concept of Des Astres D’Or Records is a noble one. The label, which is operated by sound artist Raymond Dijkstra, aims to present a vinyl release as the kind of art object you would normally find in a gallery.

To this end, the records are literally pressed one by one in the highest quality (not lathe-cut) and every cover is individual, created by the artists themselves.

It means pressings are hyper-limited as the time required to prepare a single record can be lengthy. Indeed, all but one of the releases on the label are limited to just 25 copies!

“10 to the Power of 9 Chapters 3 & 4” was released a few months ago and, alas, sold out on the day of release.

The music is a massive expansion of the original “Chapter III” from a couple of years ago, while EK created the covers utilising pens, paint, photos, scissors and digital technology for his first serious excursion into the World of visual art.

It has been quietly available on the “low profile” Bandcamp page of Edward Ka-Spel for a few weeks, but it feels like the appropriate moment to show it off to a wider audience.

Notes

Third in a series exposing “stray” and unheard pieces from the EK vault.  Included in this collection is “Amber” now revisited / remastered, hailing from the hyper rare “handmade ” vinyl edition of “Trapped in Amber” and a previously unreleased version of “Empires Must Burn” which appears on a collaborative album with Philip Petit and Asva.

from the Klang Galerie release– Edward Ka-Spel is an English singer/songwriter and musician residing in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He is best known for his work with the band The Legendary Pink Dots, which he co-founded. He is also known for his work on The Tear Garden with Skinny Puppy’s cEvin Key. In 2017, he collaborated with Amanda Palmer on the album I Can Spin a Rainbow. In The Dots, he was initially known as D’Archangel, Prophet Q’Sepel and he used other pseudonyms as well. He has also released numerous solo albums (initially featuring other members of the Legendary Pink Dots, and including contributions from Steven Stapleton of Nurse With Wound), and has worked in various side projects, including The Tear Garden (with cEvin Key of Skinny Puppy), and Mimir (with Phil Knight, Christoph Heemann, Jim O’Rourke and others). Ka-Spel’s solo albums range from abstract electronic noise to more traditional pop songs, incorporating diverse elements of psychedelia, industrial, avant garde, experimental electronic, art pop, classical music, folk (nursery songs), sampling, noise, collage, music concrete, etc. His lyrics have been described as mystically bizarre and ambiguous, and incorporate recurrent themes from his own personal mythos. Ka-Spel’s songwriting has been compared to that of Syd Barrett and early Pink Floyd, though the artist describes the comparison as being a coincidence, not a direct influence. Ka-Spel has cited Iannis Xenakis, The Beatles, Nurse With Wound, David Bowie, Brainticket, Can, The Residents, Magma, and Throbbing Gristle as significant influences. An Abandoned Laboratory Volume 3 was originally released as a download and limited edition CDR on Bandcamp and is presented on CD here for the first time. Track 6 is previously unreleased. Full tracklist: 1. The Ministry Of Disinformation 2. The Night Tram/Samsung Und Die Dialler 3. Dismantling The Tower 4. Empires Must Burn 5. Amber 6. Gold. Price: € 17,-/copy incl. worldwide shipping.

Notes

A collection of previously unreleased electro-acoustic pieces created over the last 2 years. Meditative, and a little melancholic for a darkening Autumn afternoon.
