  • Raymond Steeg mastered the proceedings

Notes

An earlier interpretation of “Kill it” appears on Cevin Key’s fine album “Ghost in each Room” under the title “A Certain Stukey”. Things conclude tragically there too.
Recordings made in Limburgia throughout 2010.
Love and peace to Chris, Heather, Pia, fellow Pink Dots, Cevin, Jesse, Amanda and Alena.
Artwork by Jesse Peper jessepeper.com
Blessed be, even when things seem darkest the light finds it’s way through the cracks. MALAZHEMNA -Edward Ka-Spel (BLRR)

***

2010 was a sad year and I guess it’s all there to hear in the margins of “The Minus Touch”- nothing overt as usual, but listen closely and…….
This is the version prepared for the double vinyl release on Beta-Lactam Ring Records. There are subtle differences with the cd edition and it has a long bonus track which would fill the fourth side of a handsome edition on wax. The vinyl IS still in the pipeline…consider this Bandcamp edition to be a taster for what is to come further down the road.

The regular cd version can still be found at edwardka-spel.bandcamp.com

Jesse Peper designed the cover(s) which are wood carvings. A big thank you to Chris at BLRR ,Phil and Alena for always being there. -Edward Ka-Spel (Bandcamp)

Press Release

New studio album with eye popping artwork by Jesse Peper in a custom made gatefold case. “V1 or V2“? Someone let loose the china doll from the cupboard again. Simply put, “The Minus Touch” is double plus good. A fantastic place for any LPD/Ka-Spel beginner to start and obviously, an essential for the Old Guard. Ka-Spel’s synthedelic song cycle has a flavour reminiscent of other aeons, though Edward’s manner of time travel seems to be to wreck himself before he Chyekks himself. Torch is only back-lit with the experimentalisms so at the forefront of recent solo efforts. The album could almost be considered “inside” by comparison. Oh, it’s messed up. But the devils are in the entrails, with most of the album belching forth beautiful, melodic coldwave electrolytes, into gasp by varying arrays of squelchy, sequenced rhythms and electronic arrhythmia. EKS, as ever, is bard to the bone.

An earlier interpretation of “Kill it” appears on Cevin Key’s fine album “Ghost in each Room” under the title “A Certain Stukey”. Things conclude tragically there too.

Notes

When The Dots played a 2 night residency in the wonderful L’Echangeur venue on the outskirts of Paris in 2005, Edward Ka-Spel was also invited to make an exclusive afternoon performance in the Herge Library.  Equipment was primitive (especially the microphone) and EK had to sing, speak, play and mix himself as there was no real desk at the venue.

However the result was a unique collection of pieces, one made especially for the occasion and a hyper-rare rendition of “Clara Rockmore’s Dog“..

It was a memorable day for the small audience and the artist and happily fiend of The Dots’ renaud captured the music on his recorder and uploaded it to the estimable Dimeadozen site.  Here it is again, a little cleaned up and edited.  Sound quality isn’t perfect by any means due to the spartan vocal PA, but it’s intimate enough to warrant it’s appearance here.

Composed and recorded over 5 days in the rainiest July I can remember.  A slow sinking into an ocean that ultimately reclaims all. Enjoy, but wear a lifejacket.

….but there’s always october. – E K-S

“a water-logged voyage floating across the psychedelic wilderness. the land is almost a bog now, filled to the gills from the ever present rain.  Animals seek higher ground as the tide comes in and in and over, blurring the line between sea and land. You can hear the boat creek as the soggy wood warps.  Wheezing organs, cold and eerie soundscapes, a chorus of gurgling and shimmering synths.” –Tolmie Terrapin Press

“Nothing logical there. A lost soul or a missing moment, derailed from the timeline, bleeding on the road as the headlights illuminate and make an arc around it.That which cannot be explained must be avoided for it is an aberration; a grain of sand on the sad eye of the good Lord above. Only that which can be held in these reliable hands is permitted here. So stop moaning. It keeps me awake and when I’m tired I see things which are not there. Just wish it wasn’t so cold in here. It’s July for Christ’s sake yet this room feels like a freezer. ghost logik. Nothing logical there. I’m repeating myself like that missing moment, like that lost soul. Trapped in a loop, mocking time itself, mocking all we are, everything we value, everything we believe in. Do you believe in ghosts? hell yeah…. BOOOOO”.  –E K-S

2023 digital remasters

Ghost Logik– The first solo album recorded by EK following his move back to the Uk. The excellent Rustblade label issued this mysterious journey in a variety of formats but it is becoming scarce these days. A CDR reissue may happen in the future.

Spectrescapes– A bonus album with the deluxe edition of ‘Ghost Logik’ in 2012. It was never released as a single disc.

Press Release

Edward Ka-spel, best known as lead singer, musician, and co-founder of The Legendary Pink Dots presents his newest work Ghost Logik. The disc represents a voyage into the most hidden recesses of the subconscious mind and flows with the dream-like quality unique to Ka-spel and his work. The atmospheres of the songs range from vast ambient spoken word spaces to enduring psychedelic ballads where the warmth of Ka-spel’s voice moves with us in solitary, dilated harmony. Meandering throughout the tracks of this eclectic opera is the sense of a conceptual overlay, tied to images of abandoned abodes and ancient spirits. An epic return and one of the most cohesive albums this artist has composed in recent years. Ghost Logik Close your eyes and listen…
