Tour Aquarian Editionbc2017_codenoir
When “Code Noir” originally appeared ,more cds were manufactured than covers…and the first edition sold out within a few weeks. This is a special edition with HANDMADE covers designed by Dots’ members which appeared during the recent tour of North American. It’s an edition of 88 only…we brought 13 back to Europe. PLEASE NOTE- AVAILABLE FROM 24 JANUARY 2017.

LPD Anno 40 Edition
A spindle of discs turned up in a garage – alas, all without covers. In typical Dots’ fashion we painstakingly created new artwork and set about the necessary task with glue, scissors and a pen. Lovingly handmade. Most of this edition will disappear on tour but we set aside 25 for all who cannot make it to the shows.  Edition of 99

Notes

There was a box in a cellar crammed with cassettes. It sat there for years.

Sometimes I’d paw through the tapes (invariably separated from their broken boxes) and wonder what was on them. Sure there were markings as an initial ballpoint scrawl would be obliterated by a red felt tip which was then obliterated by a black line and replaced with a single word like “Lullaby”. Usually the code was a lie..I knew this and held back …until around 2 months ago.

I’m almost done now and quite astonished at the things that turned up.

Everything on this volume is previously unheard except for “Potsdammer Spats” which was released on an impossibly obscure 7″/12″ (with customised T-shirt) on Rund um den Watzmann Records around 23 years ago.  Some of the recordings are rough, some of the playing was rough and you’ll shout wow at all that flutter. Glad I finally took a dive into that box- now for God’s sake, hose me down….. -E. K-S.

4MG Records cassette release:
We’re delighted to announce the release of the 3rd Chapter of the “Come Out From The Shadows” series in physical format. 4mg Records (Slovakia) has committed this release to cassette, and the whole release received a massive sonic overhaul for the occasion.  -EKS
Limited edition of 100 cassettes.

2023 CDR release:
A massive expansion and sonic overhaul for the title which now includes ‘stray’ tracks from the long out-of-print ‘Stained Glass Soma Fountains’ plus ‘Stoned Obituary 1980’ from the first cd edition of ‘Prayer For Aradia’.  It has a new cover and is a limited edition of 99.

Press Release

Some collaborations are simply written in the stars. Ryan Moore left The Legendary Pink Dots back in the year 2000 after a colossal contribution to the band over the space of 8 years on drums, bass guitar, electric guitar and even theramin. It was an impossible crater to fill, and the Dots didn’t even try – Ryan’s approach was absolutely unique. Nevertheless as The Dots adopted an airier psychedelic path and Ryan went dubterranean, the links were never broken. The idea of a reunion between The Dots’ Edward Ka-Spel and Ryan Moore came up over curry at the former’s house in London on a balmy summer night in 2012. Ryan sent a DVD packed with tunes, clips and outlines to Edward, and the latter extended and ultimately finished the journeys these sketches suggested. The result is a spacey rollercoaster ride which has elements of The Dots and Ryan’s own Twilight Circus brand, yet deviates away from both to occupy it’s own very strange land. But why “800 Saints in a Day” ? Rumour has it that the album was completed on the very day of a great elevation in The Vatican. The guys just wanted to wave at Heaven and suggest an alternative to all those damned harps.  –Tourette Records

Notes

DVD– Recorded in Tel Aviv on June 7, 2013. Track 1 is mis-spelled “God And Mashines” and track 2 is mis-spelled “Casting The Ruins” on the rear cover.

Private release of LPDs’ somewhat historic show in Tel Aviv in June where The Dots’ violinist from the 80s, Patrick Paganini, was a special guest. A 2-camera recording and sound from the mixing desk makes this document truly home-made, but nonetheless very worthy of your attention. -E. K-S.

Bandcamp MP3 release– Always pacing the thin line that divides blissful ascension with a fall from a great height, The Dots’ return to Tel Aviv’s Barby Club in 2013 was a nerve-shredding adventure. The Promoter’s concept was a reunion of the present line-up with former Pink Dot but ever-present friend Patrick Q. Wright and the resurrection of a long list of songs from the 80s. We liked the first part of the idea, but Pink Dots’ Karaoke rankled more than a bit.  Consequently we settled upon just a precious few nuggets from the past.

Even so, the biggest problem was REHEARSAL. Pat lives in Italy, and schedules just wouldn’t allow us all to be in the same room before stepping off the plane.

Consequently files flew through cyberspace and practising was a lonesome experience.
While there were mistakes (plenty), the sheer exuberance of the audience carried us through to the point where we agreed to a Promoter on his knees pleading with us to play “Curious Guy” as a second encore although we hadn’t rehearsed that one AT ALL.

An exciting little chapter in our bizarre existence and no regrets at all.  This release is Stage 2 in our efforts to raise funds for the Dots’ Page Aquarian Tour in September / October.  A BIG BIG Thank you to Ray Steeg for preparing this much requested master recording.

Press Release

Deciduous Flux began channeling energies through recordings early 2011 in Denver Colorado. It is the ongoing creative collaboration between Wesleyoung and Jesse Peper. Wesleyoung, a visual artist and also the founder and proprietor of a collective abstract underground sound project known as Behavior. Jesse Peper is primarily a painter, but has also performed and/or recorded with Not Breathing, Waldteufel, Legerdemain and Icedagaz. Deciduous

Flux was originally conceived a few years earlier than this as a visual collaboration between both artists which resulted in a series of large paintings. During the Development of these artworks many conversations often led to the discussion on the medium of sound, as both of us have always kept a love for the craft of sound. At this time we have been recording a year and a half resulting in 12 full recording sessions. Much of this material is in production and will be released to the public within the coming months.

Our recording process is quite different than the usual conventional approaches on what music is “seen as” or “supposed to be” to the world. On one hand we are obsessed on the opiates of oblivion and we are recording constantly for no outcome other than for our own meditation purposes, for achieving various states and documenting them through the recording process. This, within itself, is an intoxicating pre-procedural agent for what follows!

Largely our aim is to capture these otherworldly trans-dimensional expressions or bleed-throughs with the proper elements to perform the divine inductions, invocations and evocations etc, through the methods of our ritual. The tradition we naturally adopt is more akin to that of the shaman than it is to modern modalities of thinking. We recognize the spirit-forms or energies around us to guide us within appropriate directions according to our will and desire.

On another hand, at times we see our process fall into a method which we have described as automatic recordings, similar to some degree in the approach of automatic drawings only using sounds rather than images as the medium with which to explore, amass and create our impressions on the hanging space of time.

Within the Deciduous Flux is like a painting with sounds. A rich palette of sound to create and stimulate visions both from externally and internally. Each byproduct of the recordings presents an invocation of elements which create metaphysical vortexes to other dimensions with which the listener can also gain access to if the desire to do so exists. –BLRR

Notes

1985 and suddenly it all felt so serious…”Pandora’s Music Box” was a high profile festival in Rotterdam. There were serviettes in the dressing room, the sound system was ‘state of the art’, we were NERVOUS. In reality the performance was decent but oddly LPDs seem to benefit from quirks and faults in the PA. This system was faultless. Line-up for the Dots included Julia Waller who joined from old friends, Attrition, and highlights of the show could well be her 2 vocal pieces on “Femme mirage” and “Love in a Plain Brown Envelope”

!! Be aware this recording omits final song “Flowers for the Silverman” as the tape was sadly damaged.!! -E. K-S.
